I went to a architectural woodworking place to beg for some Mahogany scraps and they had a little Mahogany which I bought but they had just finished a job with Spanish cedar and had a pile about 3' square and about 4' high that is going to be burned for heat latter. I rescued a few pieces but I think I am going to make and offer on the whole stack if the price is right. Currently I make steelstrings. I know classical necks are made with it. Can you make steel string necks with it? Being that the future of Honduran Mahogany is not known what are the alternatives to it. Alot of the scraps are 3" thick. So what can be made from it. Tailblocks, kerfing, bracing,Thanks for your input I hate to see wood like that go to waste and it smells nice to. P.S. Can a steelstring neck be reinforced with graphite strips like a classical and have a trussrod to.

If you buy it, there is always a Swap Meet coming up, even if you can't use it.  It is good for Kerfed Linings, necks, bracing, solid linings, etc., if they have enough good pieces.

Martin has in the past. I have a S. Cedar Martin neck I bought a few years ago to use on a 12 fretter I never got around to finishing.

Picked it up today and have a van load of it. I am going to give some to a couple local luthiers and save the rest. I have a bunch of small wedge shaped picks I will have to find a use for. Not really quite big enough for a new block on a classical maybe on a steel string? I have to figure out how to post photos and I can show a piece.

I often use Spanish Cedar for a steel string guitar neck, with no added CF or anything. Just a plain 'ol Martin style truss rod, at most. It holds up perfectly fine.

Watch out for the dust! It can bite you back....
